Learning Deficiency reading

I think the reason for not teaching sustainability, is care. (lack of research) The teacher, the student, the audience has to care about this positive change. I think that the "cool" factor does not really exist enough. What we need is the "This is more than cool, this is the future" factor to play its part. I think the educators need to really come to a realization that this is really important in our field, and that its something that needs to be taught to everyone, not just obtained by the few, true individuals.

I believe certain little things can easily be taught, and not affect the curriculum like knowledge on materials, process, waste etc.

Design communicates! Designers can communicate this need for change. Also, we can invest our time and talent into companies that actually make a difference. Design helps companies exceed. I think that this kinda sucks, unless the company stands for something. (designing for seventh generation vs. mcdonalds) Designers are trend setters... but some trends need to be set in stone. We need to adjust peoples "way of seeing"

We need "transdisciplinary teaching structures, and the capacity to integrate and seek out knowledge well beyond isolated professional disciplines". Also the teaching of students to excell in the marketplace, but also have to skills to remake that same marketplace. We need to be taught design, and ethics.
